COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENT: LVE1 September 13th at 10 AM

Join Loudoun Valley Estates neighbors to canvass our community with flyers to raise awareness about the Dominion Energy Golden to Mars Transmission Line project, its impact on residents and 3 easy steps to make your voice heard!

September 13 at 10 AM at the Loudoun Valley Estates Clubhouse - 43636 Lucketts Bridge Cir, Ashburn, VA

We’ll be joined by featured speakers:

  • Delegate J.J. Singh

  • Gem Bingol, Senior Land Use Field Representative - Loudoun, Piedmont Environmental Council

  • Bryan Turner, Counsel for Loudoun Valley Estates

This is an important opportunity to hear directly from leaders, get organized, and help spread the word before the critical SCC hearings later this month. Full details (including maps, talking points, and links) can be found under Resources at NoPowerLines.org.

We want to thank everyone who has stepped up so far - whether attending meetings, reviewing filings, creating signs and materials, sharing information with neighbors, or so much more. Your engagement shows how deeply this community cares, and that is precisely why our voice is being taken seriously. This is a fight worth showing up for, and together, we are stronger.

The Bigger Picture
The situation is clear: data centers are already here, operating and expanding. Many are running below full capacity because the grid can't supply the power they need. More are under construction right now - with shovels already in the ground. These facilities won't disappear; they will be built, they will operate, and the state will mandate that utilities deliver the required power.

That genie isn’t going back in the bottle. The question isn’t whether more power is needed - it’s how those projects get built, and whether they sacrifice our neighborhoods or follow better paths and proven underground solutions.

And it’s not just about today. The SCC decision here will set precedent for every future project in Loudoun. If we want undergrounding taken seriously anywhere, it starts with us - now.

What’s at Stake

  • Homes near high-voltage lines typically lose 10-20% of their value - that’s $100K-$200K for many families.

  • Constant electrical noise, tree removal, easement restrictions, and looming towers degrade quality of life.

  • These are permanent consequences unless we act.

Why the Urgency
Forecasts show how fast this has escalated:

  • In 2022, demand projections called for 5,700 MW of new load by 2027-28.

  • By 2024, that jumped to 8,300 MW - and AI computing is driving demand even higher.

  • According to Loudoun County’s independent study by Kimley-Horn (October 2024), even if Golden to Mars and every other planned project are completed on time, total transfer capacity will still fall short by 2028.

Kimley-Horn study: Loudoun Electrical Infrastructure Needs Assessment

Golden to Mars completes Dominion’s 500 kV transmission loop through eastern Loudoun. But even with that in place, the region remains structurally under-supplied - so more projects are inevitable. This makes the precedent set right now crucial: whether solutions impose overhead lines near homes, or prioritize undergrounding and alternatives.

What We Need You to Do Right Now

  1. Community Rally - Saturday, Sept 13, 10 am
    LVE Clubhouse, Lucketts Bridge Circle

    • Hear from Delegate J.J. Singh, Gem Bingol (PEC), and Bryan Turner (Counsel, LVE)

    • Learn the facts for safeguarding your home value

    • Connect with neighbors and help expand outreach

    • Show we are organized and serious

    2. Submit SCC Comments This Week

    • Templates and links at NoPowerLines.org

    • Personal stories carry weight

    • Encourage every household member to submit individually

    3. Most Important: Pack the SCC Hearings - Sept 18 & 29
Rock Ridge High School, 6:30 pm (arrive by 6 pm to register to speak)

    • The September 18 hearing at Rock Ridge is pivotal. It will set the tone for whether underground alternatives are taken seriously when the case goes to Richmond in December.

    • A strong turnout on the 18th delivers the clearest message: we’re united, serious, and we will not accept overhead power lines in our neighborhoods.

    • Visit NoPowerLines.org for full details on how to participate.
