Signed up? Prepare your speech!
The process is not over, and continued public pressure is essential to ensure that our community is protected.
One important opportunity to show that support is the upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting on March 17.
Even though the Board does not make the final decision on the transmission line, their support for undergrounding carries significant weight, and it is important that they continue hearing directly from residents who are affected.
If you are able, please consider attending the meeting. Whether you choose to speak or simply attend to show support, a strong community presence sends a powerful message that residents care deeply about how this project is implemented.
How to Sign up to Speak:
The Board’s business meetings feature one public input session that begins as early as 6:00 p.m. and is limited to a maximum time of 90 minutes. Members of the public are typically given at least two-and-a-half minutes to speak.
The deadline to sign up in advance is noon on the day of the meeting. Call 703-777-0200 to sign up in advance.
At the time speakers sign up in advance, speakers may choose to provide their comments either in person or remotely by phone.
Members of the public also may sign up to speak in person beginning 30 minutes before the start of the meeting on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up in person, speakers should visit the clerk in the board room, which is located in the Government Center in Leesburg.
Members of the public may speak on any topic during business meetings. We will post talking points in advance of the meeting.
